1. Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to the official website of the San Francisco Unified Lions Club (“SFULC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing, browsing, or using this website (the “Site”), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use or access the Site.

These Terms apply to all visitors, members, donors, event attendees, and others who access or use the Site.

2. Organizational Structure and Disclaimers

The San Francisco Unified Lions Club operates in conjunction with the San Francisco Unified Lions Club Foundation. Please note the legal distinction between these two entities when interacting with our Site:

  • The Club (SFULC): A 501(c)(4) social welfare organization. Payments made for general club membership dues, administrative fees, or standard event tickets are generally not tax-deductible as charitable contributions.
  • The Foundation: A registered 501(c)(3) public charity. Donations specifically routed to the Foundation are tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law.

3. Use of the Site and Permitted Conduct

You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe upon the rights of, restrict, or inhibit anyone else’s use and enjoyment of the Site. You agree not to:

  • Use the Site in any way that breaches any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation (including laws within the State of California and the City of San Francisco).
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our Site, the server on which our Site is stored, or any server, computer, or database connected to our Site, particularly the password-protected Member Portal.
  • Use the Site to transmit, or procure the sending of, any unsolicited or unauthorized advertising or promotional material (spam).
  • Scrape, harvest, or extract data from our member directories, board rosters, or event calendars for commercial purposes.

4. Member Portal Access and Security

Certain areas of the Site, specifically the “Member Portal” and internal resource libraries, are restricted to active SFULC members and are protected by a universal password.

  • Confidentiality: If you are provided with a password or any other piece of information as part of our security procedures, you must treat such information as confidential. You must not disclose it to any third party who is not an active member of SFULC.
  • Accountability: You are responsible for any activity that occurs under your access to the Member Portal.
  • Right to Revoke: We reserve the right to disable any password or revoke access to the Member Portal at any time, without notice, if we believe you have failed to comply with any of the provisions of these Terms or if your active membership status changes.

5. Donations, Dues, and Third-Party Payment Processors

We rely on third-party payment platforms, including Zeffy and Venmo, to process membership dues, event ticketing, and charitable donations.

  • External Processing: When you make a payment or donation, you may be redirected to a platform hosted by Zeffy, Venmo, or another third-party provider. SFULC does not store or process your credit card numbers or financial data directly on our servers.
  • Third-Party Terms: Your transactions are subject to the respective terms of service and privacy policies of those third-party processors.
  • Refund Policy: Because we are a non-profit organization and funds are immediately allocated to community service projects, grants, and administrative operations, all donations and dues payments are generally considered non-refundable. If an error in processing occurs, please contact us within 14 days at sfunifiedlcfoundation@gmail.com for review.

6. Youth Participation and The Leo Club

Our Site includes information and registration forms for the SFULC Leo Club (ages 12–18).

  • Parental Consent: If you are under the age of 18, you must have the permission and assistance of a parent or legal guardian to submit personal information, register for events, or apply for Leo Club membership through this Site.
  • We adhere strictly to data protection guidelines regarding minors, which are further detailed in our Privacy Policy.

7. Intellectual Property Rights

  • Lions Clubs International Trademarks: The names “Lions Clubs International,” “Leo Club,” the Lions emblem, and the Leo emblem are registered trademarks of Lions Clubs International. Their use on this Site is governed by the rules and policies of Lions Clubs International.
  • SFULC Content: Unless otherwise stated, all original text, graphics, user interfaces, photographs (including gallery archives), logos, and artwork on this Site are owned, controlled, or licensed by or to SFULC, and are protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, republish, or distribute our material without express written consent.

8. External Links and Partnerships

This Site contains links to external websites, including community partners (e.g., SF-Marin Food Bank, Yick Wo School), Lions District 4-C4 resources, and public Google Calendars.

  • These links are provided for your convenience to provide further information. They do not signify that we endorse the external website(s).

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The information, materials, and services provided on this Site are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied. SFULC does not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components. We make no representations regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of the content provided on the Site.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, in no event shall the San Francisco Unified Lions Club, its Foundation, its board members, officers, members, or volunteers be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Site, any websites linked to it, or any content on the Site.

11. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SFULC, its affiliates, licensors, and service providers, and its and their respective officers, directors, volunteers, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or relating to your violation of these Terms or your use of the Site.

12. Changes to These Terms

SFULC reserves the right to modify or revise these Terms at any time in our sole discretion. All changes are effective immediately when we post them. Your continued use of the Site following the posting of revised Terms means that you accept and agree to the changes.

13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any legal action or proceeding arising out of or related to these Terms or the Site shall be instituted exclusively in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco, California.
