What Leos do
Leos don't just help out on the sidelines. Members ages 12 to 18 decide what matters to them, create their own community projects, and lead the work themselves — with support from the club.
Leos pick the causes they care about and build real community service projects around them.
Leo clubs have their own officers, so members run the meetings and make the decisions.
Real service experience and volunteer hours that colleges and employers actually notice.
Projects Leos take part in
A mix of youth-led drives and club events where Leos do the work and lead the way — running throughout the year.

Beyond our club
Lions International and our district run contests and programs for young people every year, and our club can sponsor you to enter. Each one has its own age rules — ask a Leo advisor which are open to you right now.
Speaking · Feb–Mar
High school students compete in public speaking, with a cash prize — our club runs its own round, and winners can go on through the California district.
Art · Ages 11–13
Draw what peace means to you and go up against young artists worldwide. The 2026–27 theme is “Harmony in Unity.”
Writing · Ages 11–13
The written counterpart to the poster contest, created for students who are blind or visually impaired.
Film · Leos only
Leo clubs worldwide make a short film on that year's theme. Make something with your friends and put our club on the map.
Lions International runs more youth programs than we can list here — youth camps and exchanges, Lions Quest, and grants for Leo-led projects among them. Ask a Leo advisor and we'll point you to the ones you're eligible for.
