Service Projects
Our Community Impact — Serving San Francisco & Beyond
From free vision screenings for children to food drives, toy drives and the Veterans Day Parade, these are the projects our Lions run for neighbors across San Francisco.
What we do
Projects that show up for San Francisco
Every project below is run by Lions volunteers. Here is what each one does and who it helps.

Youth Vision Screening Project
The San Francisco Unified Lions Club signature project helps children see clearly and reach their full potential through early vision screening. Our Youth Vision Screening Project provides free vision screenings for children in preschools, daycares, schools, and underserved communities throughout San Francisco.

Hunger Project
The San Francisco Unified Lions Club works in collaboration with the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank and The Women’s Building in the Mission District to help address food insecurity in our community. Through food distribution and hands-on volunteer service, this project supports individuals and families who may be experiencing food insecurity, while strengthening community partnerships and expanding access to essential resources.
Our goal is simple: bring people together to serve with compassion, nourish our neighbors, and help build a stronger community.

Annual Holiday Toy Drive
The San Francisco Unified Lions Club’s Annual Toy Drive brings joy to children and families in our community during the holiday season. Through donations and community partnerships, Lions collect and distribute new toys to children who may otherwise have limited opportunities to receive a holiday gift.
This project brings members and community partners together to share kindness, create memorable moments for children, and brighten the holiday season—one gift at a time.

Annual Lions Student Speaker Contest
The San Francisco Unified Lions Club proudly hosts the annual Lions Student Speaker Contest, providing high school students with an opportunity to develop and showcase their public speaking skills. Students are invited to share their perspectives on a selected topic while demonstrating thoughtful communication, confidence, and leadership.
The contest encourages young people to express their ideas, engage with their communities, and develop skills that will serve them throughout their academic, professional, and personal lives.
2026-2027 topic: “Should we return to teaching life skills in the high school experience”

San Francisco Veterans Parade
Each year, the San Francisco Unified Lions Club proudly participates in the San Francisco Veterans Day Parade, bringing Lions together in fellowship and service to honor the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of our veterans.

Business Network Group — Lions Supporting Lions
The SF Unified Lions Club Business Network Group brings Lions together to build meaningful professional connections, support one another’s businesses, and strengthen the spirit of service within the Lions community. Through networking, referrals, collaboration, and shared resources, members can learn from one another and help fellow Lions grow personally and professionally.
Our goal: Connect. Support. Collaborate. Serve.
